The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the ultimate test in endurance motorsport. For 24 relentless hours, teams, drivers and machines are pushed to their limits at the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe in front of 350,000 fans. This year, KYB partners BMW M Team WRT arrived with confidence and momentum after securing a historic one-two finish at Spa-Francorchamps just weeks earlier. What followed was one of BMW M Motorsport’s strongest performances at Le Mans in more than two decades.
The #20 BMW M Hybrid V8, driven by Robin Frijns, René Rast and Sheldon van der Linde, was a contender throughout the race and remained firmly in the battle for overall victory. As the race entered its final hours, the #20 BMW remained in contention for the lead and looked set to challenge for a famous victory. In a dramatic finish, however, Toyota ultimately prevailed, with BMW crossing the line in second place after 381 laps, just over ten seconds behind the winning car.
Despite narrowly missing out on the top step of the podium, the result marks BMW’s best finish at Le Mans since its famous overall victory in 1999 and the first Hypercar-era podium for BMW M Motorsport. It also further underlines the remarkable progress made by BMW M Team WRT and the BMW M Hybrid V8 programme since entering the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The sister #15 BMW M Hybrid V8, driven by Kevin Magnussen, Raffaele Marciello and Dries Vanthoor, started the weekend superbly, by winning pole position. Unfortunately #15 saw its challenge end prematurely after collision and then technical issues forced retirement before the finish. Nevertheless, the pace shown by both cars throughout the event demonstrated that BMW remains firmly among the frontrunners in the world’s premier endurance racing category.
For KYB, Le Mans once again showcased the importance of reliability, consistency and engineering excellence under extreme conditions. Endurance racing places extraordinary demands on every component, with cars running flat-out for an entire day through changing temperatures, varying track conditions and intense wheel-to-wheel competition.

With several rounds of the FIA World Endurance Championship still to come, the battle continues and after such a performance at Le Mans, BMW M Team WRT will undoubtedly be among the teams to watch in the next round in Brazil.
